We already know which communities are being hit hardest by gun violence. The question is, are we creating spaces people actually want to walk into?

That is why City Vision created the Backyard Kickback. It is music, food, laughter, poetry, real conversations, and community all in one backyard. You might come for the DJ or a plate, but leave with a mentor, a business connection, or a new opportunity.

If you ride past the Hidden Gem and hear rap music, do not panic. Nobody is tearing up the neighborhood. We are using the music to bring people through the gate, because sometimes culture can reach somebody before a program ever will.

We are reaching out a hand instead of pointing a finger. We are using culture to reach people before violence does. This is bigger than a party. This is community work with a little seasoning on it.
